Celtic should keep their league-winning side intact, according to Peter Rafferty, president of the Affiliation of Celtic Supporters' Clubs.
The Hoops, who won the SPL last season by 17 points over second-placed Hearts, are in a quandary over five of their most influential players.
The Glasgow giants have accepted a £500,000 bid from West Brown for striker John Hartson although the Welshman, who still has a year left on his contract, is not certain to make the move to the midlands.
Disgruntled midfielder Stilian Petrov, who has handed in a transfer request, is the target of Portsmouth while it is still not clear whether skipper Neil Lennon, whose present deal runs out this summer, will sign an extension.
Roy Keane is still undecided as to whether he will retire as he threatened to do earlier in the season and Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura is also thought to be considering his future at Celtic Park.
However, Rafferty hopes all those players will be available to help the Hoops make their mark in the Champions League next season.
He said: "John Hartson has been a fantastic servant to the team in the time he has been here, scoring over 100 goals.
"He's a good, reliable player and personally I would prefer him to stay.
"Things do change and it's down to Gordon Strachan who he wants to keep but I think John would be ideal for the European games.
"Gordon might be looking to play a more high-tempo game and that could suit us but I'm sure SPL defenders will be glad if John goes.
"We are fairly strong in the midfield area and Roy Keane would be a big player for us in Europe.
"Lennon, Petrov and Nakamura all offer experience and I would prefer it if they all stayed.
"But it's a waiting game at the moment and hopefully things will become clearer by the end of the month."
The Glasgow giants are poised to sign former Manchester United player Quinton Fortune and Strachan has already used the Bosman rule to capture Kenny Miller from Wolves as well as Gary Caldwell and Derek Riordan, both from Hibernian.
But Rafferty is expecting at least one high-profile player to arrive at Parkhead before the new season begins.
He said: "The new players we have got so far will add to the squad.
"Caldwell offers a passing game from the back, Miller has got pace while Riordan is a free-kick expert.
"We know there will be more acquisitions because these days you need a squad of 24 players.
"But we have not spent any money yet and I'm assuming the money we get for competing in the Champions League will be available.
"I'm sure Peter Lawwell (chief executive) and Gordon Strachan are looking for real quality because quality counts in Europe and of course we want to win the SPL again."

The 31-year-old has been left distraught by the news that the SPL champions are willing to sell the striker for a cut-price £500,000 to West Brom.
Hartson said : "I can't believe the way I've been treated after all I've done for the club.
"I feel angry, hurt and betrayed that I had to find out by reading it on Teletext.
"If they had told me by phone or to my face I was leaving I would have been disappointed but I could have handled it. I would have appreciated the honesty.
"But I only discovered the bid from West Brom had been accepted through Teletext - and I still haven't had it officially from Celtic.
"I'm deeply disappointed. I know I'm finished with Celtic and I won't get the chance to say goodbye to the fans."
Portsmouth and Blackburn could also enter the chase for Hartson, who has scored 110 goals in 201 games for the Hoops.
