29th November 2001: Agent denies Larsson in Liverpool

With the imminent departure of Robbie Fowler to Leeds, numerous strikers are been linked with the club.

The latest name to be thrown into the hat is that of Celtic striker Henrik Larsson with the rumour mill claiming that he has been sighted at Melwood this morning.

Rubbishing those claims today was his agent Rob Jansen. He is quoted today as saying: "It is nonsense. There is nothing in it. Henrik is not in Liverpool. There is no move and have been no enquiries for him."

LARSSON FOR LIVERPOOL?????

Reports that Celtic striker Henrik Larsson has been spotted at Melwood with Rick Parry today have been played down by the club and his agent. Rumours suggesting possible replacements for the departed Robbie Fowler have been quick to spring up, with reports this afternoon hinting that the Celtic and Sweden striker could follow in Kenny Dalglish's footsteps by moving to Anfield. However, a spokesperson for the club responded by claiming the report was 'rubbish', adding: "I've been at Melwood all day and he's definitely not been here." When pressed as to whether there had been any contact between Parry and Celtic, she said: "Not as far as I've been told." Meanwhile the 30-year-old's agent Rob Jansen told TEAMtalk: "It is nonsense. There is nothing in it, Henrik is not in Liverpool. There is no move and have been no enquiries for him."

DID CELTIC HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS?

Ajax sack Adriaanse

AFC Ajax have parted company with coach Co Adriaanse after a poor run of form in the Dutch Eredivisie and elimination from the UEFA Cup. The dismissal came despite a 3-2 win on Wednesday night over FC Twente at the Amsterdam ArenA. Adriaanse's team selection on the night had brought boos from sections of the crowd and many waved white handkerchiefs to show their disdain. Unanimous decision "Ajax and Co Adriaanse will be parting company with immediate effect," the club said on its website on Thursday. "The decision to end the contract was taken by the Ajax management this morning and Co Adriaanse was informed." Early leaders Adriaanse, who took charge of the Amsterdam club last year, had seen his side start the season in fine form. However, things took a turn for the worse following a 5-1 defeat away at SC Heerenveen at the end of October. Out of UEFA Cup After a victory over Willem II, Ajax could only scrape a draw with strugglers De Graafschap before suffering successive 3-1 home setbacks against NAC Breda and PSV Eindhoven. The club were also knocked out at the second-round stage of the UEFA Cup at the hands of FC København.

Our old friend Hugh Keevins at Radio Clyde has got it wrong again, he reported this morning that the hoops were minus three players as they flew out to Spain.

Sorry to correct you Hugh but both Alan Thompson and Joos Valgaeren gave Celtic's UEFA Cup hopes a timely boost by flying out with the rest of the first team squad to Valencia.

You were correct however with your news regarding winger Didier Agathe who is out with knee ligament damage sustained at Tynecastle on Saturday.

AFTER days of negotiation, Celtic have successfully gained UEFA’s permission to screen the away leg of the Club’s UEFA cup-tie with Valencia live on Thursday 22nd November at 8.30pm. The match will be broadcast live from Valencia's Mestalla stadium on the big screens at Celtic Park and will allow fans to see the entire game accompanied by a live commentary.

Tickets for the beamback are now on sale but for reasons of public safety, no tickets can be sold after 12noon on Thursday, November 22

Tickets are available from the Ticket Office at Celtic Park, by telephone on 0141-551 8653 or in person from the Celtic stores at 154 Argyle Street, 21 High Street and 40 Dundas Street.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £3 for young people under 16, and £8 to include lounge access. All tickets purchased are redeemable until 24th December 2001 against merchandise in any Celtic store.

As an early Christmas present to reward the Club’s fantastic support all tickets for the beamback are redeemable against merchandise in any Celtic store. Tickets will be available to buy from Ticket Services at Celtic Park and Celtic stores throughout Glasgow.

The same UEFA regulation that forbade both Rangers and Celtic from playing their UEFA cup-ties at home on the same night means that a limited number of tickets will be sold for the beamback. These will be situated in the lower part of the North Stand.

Supporters with access to the Internet can also access the game in its entirety by subscribing to the live webcast on www.celticfc.net.

Ian McLeod, Chief Executive commented today: "I am delighted that Celtic Football Club has been able to bring this exciting and important game to our fans. I know that the decision not to broadcast this leg of the tie had caused great disappointment, especially to the many thousands of supporters who have followed the team in Europe since the pre-season tour.

"Our successful negotiation of a deal to show the live game both at Celtic Park on the big screens as well as on the internet means many people will have the opportunity to see this crucial game in its entirety.

"In order to get acceptance for the beamback we are obliged to charge for this event. In recognition of the tremendous support Celtic has had from fans throughout the European campaign, we have decided to allow every beamback ticket to be redeemable at its full face value in any Celtic store until Christmas Eve."

* PLEASE NOTE that for reasons of public safety no tickets can be sold after 1200hrs on Thursday.

CELTIC V LIVINGSTON FROM LIVILIONS.CO.UK WEBSITE

Livingston will face Celtic three times inside just 28 days towards the end of the year after the reigning SPL champions brushed aside Stirling Albion at Parkhead last night.

Martin O'Neill's side - unbeaten domestically this season - hit Ray Stewart's part-timers 8-0 to set up a CIS Insurance quarter-final showdown at Almondvale on November 28th. The match will be shown live on Scottish TV.

The Scottish Premier League also confirmed that the much re-arranged League meeting of the sides will now be played on December 18th at Almondvale, the third new date for the match.

Originally the game was to take place at the end of January, but was brought forward to November 10th when it became clear that Scotland would not be involved in the World Cup qualifying play-offs.

However, the international commitments of Celtic's overseas internationalists meant that a postponement was granted until December 11th, which has subsequently been put back for a further week to accommodate Celtic's UEFA Cup tie with Valencia.

To complete the quick-fire trio of matches, the sides meet for the third time on League business in Glasgow on Boxing Day, the club's first ever visit to Parkhead.
